Andrew Crabtree, LL.B.

Andrew is founder and principal at Crabtree Law. He has more than 15 years of experience resolving shareholder, partnership, contract and real estate disputes for corporations and individuals through negotiated settlements, arbitration and court. He has extensive experience with matters before the BC Securities Commission, the BCFSA and IIROC. He also has experience with disciplinary proceedings at the Law Society and the CPABC.

Andrew is currently an adjunct professor at UBC’s Allard School of Law where he is teaching a course on shareholder litigation that he co-founded with Joel Payne.

Before launching his own firm, Andrew practised for several years with Blake, Cassels & Graydon and then with Bob Cooper KC.  After attending UVic Law, he clerked for five justices of the British Columbia Supreme Court.  Prior to law school, he spent time working at the British Columbia legislature.

Outside of law, he is a director and chair of the governance committee of the BC Indigenous Housing Society, a director at Legal Aid BC and a former board member of the Vancouver Bar Association.

Leah Plumridge, J.D., M.B.A.

Leah specializes in business disputes, bringing her experience in tax and finance to crafting practical solutions to her clients’ issues.  Leah has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.

Before joining Crabtree Law, Leah practiced for several years at large organizations including a national law firm and ‘big four’ accounting firm, as well as the leading tax boutique in Canada. After law school, she clerked for seven justices of the British Columbia Supreme Court including the Associate Chief Justice. In addition to her Juris Doctor, Leah holds an MBA and finished first in her undergraduate class with a B. Comm. (Finance).

Leah volunteers with various organizations including the Avalanche Canada Foundation where she is a director and member of the governance and fundraising committees. Leah is a former member of the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Young Practitioners Steering Committee.

Medina Abdelkader, J.D.

Medina is a graduate of University of Victoria Faculty of Law. She holds a Masters of Design in Strategic Foresight & Innovation and a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Political Science. Prior to entering the legal sector, she spent several years working as a design strategist for various corporate clients, applying change management, systems thinking, strategic foresight, and human-centred design principles to products and services. Before joining Crabtree Law, Medina worked as a Service Designer for the Government of Alberta’s Digital Innovation Office, designing virtual courts and court case management software. She is an avid proponent of human-centred legal services, access to justice, and data-informed decision-making in all corners of the legal system. Medina was called to the British Columbia bar in January 2023.
